Longtime Ridgefield Little League player Jack Gonzalez, with help from RLL, is organizing this project.
Jack is a grade 8 student at Scotts Ridge Middle School and has been playing RLL since he was 5 years old at T-ball. Now that his Little League career ended last summer, he’s giving back to the sport and the community that have given him so much. Here is Jack’s message. âI would love to do something that could make a difference for children outside of our community. I have realized through playing sports how lucky I am to have great coaches, great teammates, parents and a supportive community and all the equipment and sports equipment that I have. could dream. I also realize that not all children have these same opportunities and resources.
Jack is in partnership with “Let’s Play it Forward”, a 501 (c) 3 nonprofit, created by a group of teenagers from Westchester, New York. Their mission is to help youth charities and those in need get the equipment they need to play the sports they love. To date, they have collected 24,689 pieces of lightly used sports equipment.
Footballs, kick balls, soccer balls, all baseball and soccer equipment, softball equipment, lacrosse equipment, volleyballs, inline skates, basketballs, golf bags, complete sets irons, wood, individual irons, wedges, putters, golf balls, hockey equipment, shin guards, tennis equipment, ski goggles and gloves, lightly worn sneakers.
